Words can not express how nervous this makes me!  One misstep and Andy would have to fish for Gavin!

Oh, and can you see the invisible fishing line they had to navigate over?

The kid knows how to ride in style.

 The essence of cool

Have you heard of kick the can?  How about kick the coconut?

Not sure why, but Gavin's affection for coconuts began when he was 2 years old.  In fact we still have two coconuts Grandpa found for him years ago.  They have a coveted spot on the toy shelves in the basement.  Clearly he still holds coconuts near and dear to his heart!

Since Grandma and Grandpa are in Florida during Parker's actual birthday, we celebrate a little early with this awesome cake Grandma picked up.

While we waited for the festivities to start, Gavin tried to teach Parker how old he is going to be.

Putting some real thought into it!

Gearing himself up for the cake-a-thon about to ensue.  He will not let pre-nap fatigue slow him down!

His eyes start to perk up as he blows out the candles.

Success!  The cherry has revitalized him (and given his mouth such a lovely shade of red)!

No words necessary...

I WILL NOT FALL ASLEEP IN MY CAKE!

One more itty bitty bite left.  Can I do it?

Of course!

Oh, do I have something on my face?  Really?  Is it gone?  Did I get it?

Going back for round two.

Present time!  This truck with working lights, sounds, ramp and race car is a hit!

Working hard, albeit with a slightly bloated cake belly!

I love this chair!

Thanks for the wonderful party and presents Grandma and Grandpa!  I loved the cake and presents!

Invasion of the body snatchers?  Hermit crabs as far as the eye could see.

The land mine on hermit crabs didn't slow the boys down one bit.
It was such a different experience for me this year with the bazillion of hermit crabs and the hundreds of washed up sand dollars. I don't know if the crabs come up like this every year, but I know the sand dollar graveyard is uncommon.  We came when the "Red Tide" caused all sorts of dead stuff to wash up on shore.  The hermit crabs were very much alive, but eerie none the less.  So all this eeriness has me wondering...will the boys take all this for granted?  If the chance encounter with a long hermit crab or a coveted, perfectly round sand dollar is no longer a rare thing, will they still realize just how special those things are?

After a long day of playing on the beach, Parker had his very first taste of soda.

Reaction to the first sip.  Those bubbles take the kids by surprise every time!

Sprite buzz

Cheers!

Andy, wha'cha reading?

Oh my....

While Andy caught up on his scholarly reading, the rest of us put up Grandma and Grandpa's Christmas tree.

Serious concentration.

Parker's contribution was a little.....

bottom heavy and lopsided, but perfectly adorable!

Over the years, Andy has been perfecting the art of netting minnows.  Notice the birds flocking towards the buckets, looking for a free meal.

Can a bucket of minnows be considered a biology lesson?

Watch out!  The birds are on the hunt!

Ack!  Not to worry.  While Andy has been perfecting the art of netting, Gavin has been perfecting the art of chasing birds away.  *No animals were harmed in the filming of this blog.*
